Nana Morimoto is a native of Kobe, Japan. She was educated, piano course at The Showa College of Music, vocal music course at The Showa School for Performing Arts and received awards & scholarships, opera performance at Japan Opera Society in Tokyo. She also studied voice privately with Japanese tenor, Mr Sakuzo Takada (高田作造) who was one of the best tenors in Japan in the late 1950s to 1980s. He was taught by the same teacher who taught Luciano Pavarotti, Arrigo Pola, also studied the opera score with Italian conductor & composer, Gaetano Comelli. During her student days in Japan, Mrs. Morimoto performed roles from Mozart’s Bastien and Bastienne, Così fan tutte, Mesdames de la Halle, and Rossini’s little known opera, L’equivoco stravagante. As a pianist during that time, she performed in operas such as Menotti’s The Telephone and Chip and His Dog, Verdi’s Te Deum and Aida, Mascagni's Cavalleria Rustiana , Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci. She also performed with the Silk Road Chorus in Tokyo in a concert of Japanese folk songs, with Tokyo Artescenica Opera, and Meiji University Chorus. She was also the music director of Atsugi Children's Cchorus and directed such musicals as Snow White and The Sound of Music.
In 1997, Mrs. Morimoto met Maestro Anton Guadagno in Tokyo and decided to move to West Palm Beach to study opera and work at Palm Beach Opera with him. She became a member of Palm Beach Opera’s Young Artist Program and sang roles from I Puritani, Un Ballo in Maschera, Tannhäuser, Tosca, La Boheme and Alice in Wonderland and more.
Beside as a singer, she also serving as a rehearsal pianist, worked with Anton Guadagno, as well as other great conductors, such as Julius Rudel, and Bruno Aprea, among others. In addition, she has been the back stage conductor, and prompter for about 28 of Palm Beach Opera’s main stage performances. And same time she studied opera accompaniment with Italian conductor, Massimo Morelli. She also worked in Altamura Center in New York with Carmela Altamura, Licia Albanese and Anton Coppola, South Florida Opera Company, Miami Lyric Opera, Caruso International Competition, and as an accomplished pianist and coach for Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches and many of the school choirs in the South Florida area as well.
As a soloist, Mrs. Morimoto has performed solo recitals and concerts in local churches, singing such works as Vivaldi's Gloria, Handel's Messiah, Dubois's Seven Last Words of Christ, and Bach's Christ lag in Todesbanden, Cantata No.4. She has been also traveling and performing with talented local musicians for "Opera Night & More" entertainment concerts at country clubs and restaurants, private parties, charity events in the South Florida regions.
Mrs. Morimoto is called upon by renowned soprano, Ms. Virginia Zeani to work frequently with her students and learned her teaching technique from her. Also she is former student of Ms Zeani. She is now teaching in her own music studio located in Lake Worth, Florida. In 2014, Mrs. Morimoto also opened a music studio in her hometown of Kobe, Japan. Currently, she is accepting voice & piano students from both countries, USA & Japan.
